About the project

HomeServerLab started as a personal project to document everything learned while building a real serverless infrastructure on AWS. Instead of keeping those notes private, they became structured tutorials — written the way a developer would actually want to read them.

The site is fully serverless: no EC2 instances, no traditional web servers. Every page is served by an AWS Lambda function, with DynamoDB handling data and Amazon Bedrock powering the AI assistant. The whole stack costs less than a coffee per month to run.

This is an ongoing project. New tutorials are added regularly, covering more AWS services and real-world use cases based on what's actually being built and deployed here.

Why HomeServerLab?

Most AWS tutorials are either too shallow to be useful, or hidden behind a paywall. HomeServerLab exists to bridge that gap — practical, honest content written by someone who actually builds and runs infrastructure on AWS every day.

Unlike documentation or vendor-sponsored content, these tutorials are written from a developer's perspective: what actually works, what to watch out for, and how to avoid the mistakes that cost time and money. The goal is simple — help you build something real, not just follow along with a demo.

Everything covered here is in active use on this very site. If a tutorial explains how to set up a Lambda function with DynamoDB rate limiting, it's because that's exactly how the HomeServerLab AI assistant works under the hood.
