Private DNS
Resolver

HomeServerLab now runs a free private DNS resolver — no logs, no tracking, encrypted with DNS over TLS. Powered by Unbound running directly against the root servers.

Why use it

No logs
Your DNS queries are never stored or shared with anyone.
Encrypted
DNS over TLS (DoT) — all queries are encrypted in transit.
Recursive
Resolves directly against root servers — no Google, no Cloudflare.
EU-based
Server located in Paris, France (eu-west-3). GDPR compliant.

How to use it

Android

Private DNS (DNS over TLS)

Android natively supports DNS over TLS via the Private DNS setting.

  • Go to Settings → Connections → More connection settings → Private DNS
  • Select Private DNS provider hostname
  • Enter the hostname below and save
  • If it does not connect, restart your device and try again

Windows 11

DNS over TLS

Windows 11 supports DNS over TLS natively in the network settings.

  • Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi or Ethernet → Hardware properties
  • Click Edit next to DNS server assignment
  • Set to Manual and enter the values below
  • Set Preferred encryption to DNS over TLS (DoT)
  • Enter the DNS server name: dns.homeserverlab.org
  • If it does not connect, restart your device and try again
